The Emergence of Aphrodite

In the context of “Paphos 2017 Cultural Capital of Europe”, Haris Paspallis, submitted his diptych sculpture tribute to the Goddess of love and beauty, through a procedure which appropriate and displaces, connected clues with the Cypriot Godddess/

At the sculptural marble installment, titled “The emergence of Aphrodite”, he formulates through the sculptural volumes, as they rise from the liquid surface, the birth of the Goddess, through the foams of the waves. In this way, he carries in the most centred square of the city the aura and the feeling of her archetype birth place. The urban Aphrodite, with her upright solemnity, follows the high trend of the trees in the background and enters with them in a sphere of a supernatural ascension, where the earthly connects with the divine, where the present meets the past and the mythical narratives of Paphos are channeled in her own everyday life, recommending integral part of her.
